Meet Dr. Alexandra Sales
Dr. Sales was raised in Glendale, AZ where she attended Deer Valley High School. After graduation, she continued her education at the University of Arizona for one year. Realizing her love for California, she decided to transfer to Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA where she received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry in 2010. Not long after, Dr. Sales’ education led her back to Glendale, AZ where she received a Master’s of Arts degree in Biomedical Sciences at the College of Health Sciences at Midwestern University, in 2013. Right after receiving her Master’s degree, Dr. Sales began dental school at the College of Dental Medicine, Midwestern University, completing her dental education in 2017.
During dental school Dr. Sales was very involved in her education and extra curricular activities. She served as Vice President for four consecutive years, Social Chair for the American Student Dental Association for two consecutive years, and had various other leadership roles in the Dental Anesthesia Club and the Student Government Association. In addition to leadership roles, Dr. Sales presented a lecture at the American Dental Education Association in 2016.
Giving back to the community is also something she enjoys. Dr. Sales served on multiple occasions for Give Kids a Smile, UMOM, as well as traveled around the world on a dental mission trip to serve the people of Tonga. Lastly, she has been heavily involved in additional continuing education outside of dental school. She was privileged to travel to Cartagena, Colombia to gain unparalleled experience in implant surgical courses. Dr. Sales is a member of the American Dental Association, AZ Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
After graduating dental school, her fiancé was matched for an orthopedic residency in Chicago, IL, which is what led Dr. Sales to the Midwest. Her biggest passion is traveling, but she also enjoys exercising, trying new foods, and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Alexandra Sales recently attended the Bicon Implant Surgical Seminar at Bicon's world headquarters in Boston, MA. The in-depth course consisted of surgical aspects of implant placement such as, but not limited to, history of the Bicon implant, case selection, bone graft material, simple implant placement, sinus lift, and ridge splits. In addition, the course also taught restorative techniques and materials, such as the integrated abutment crown and the Trinia restoration, to aid the clinician in a simple and predictable way. Dr. Alexandra Sales received 16 continuing education credits for this course alone, and now has more than 80 surgical continuing education credits solely focused on implants.
She continues to attend CE courses throughout the nation in order to expand her knowledge and keep up-to-date with the growing dental procedure/industry.
Dr. Alexandra Sales also participated in a unique 4-day implant surgical course at Bicon’s international training facility at the University of Cartagena (Cartagena, Colombia). This surgical course allowed Dr. Sales to have hands-on training at every stage of implant surgery on live patients. She gained experience from surgical flap design, drilling the initial pilot hole to placing the implant and suturing. In addition, she was able to uncover and restore existing implants. She raves about this specific course as it is quite challenging and rigorous, but is undoubtedly an unparalleled experience for dentists.
