Female patient at the dentist having local anesthesia

When was the last time you saw the dentist? If you cannot honestly answer that question because you can’t remember the last time you set foot in a dentist’s office, then chances are you have dental phobia. And that’s okay. Everyone is afraid of something and quite frankly there are millions of Americans who count themselves among those who fear the dentist. However, you shouldn’t let your fear hold you back—especially when there’s a simple solution. With sedation dentistry, Valparaiso residents can overcome the fear in order to have the dental procedures they need to enjoy a healthy smile.

The sedation dentist Valparaiso trusts and our team of compassionate dental hygienists and assistants are not here to pass judgment or criticize you for delaying necessary dental treatment. We are only here to help you have optimal oral health going forward. There’s no sense in looking back—we can’t change that. But what we can change and improve is your smile!

For a Sedation Dentist, Valparaiso Comes to Smile by Arnold & Associates

At our dental practice in Valparaiso, we use a form of sedation dentistry called oral conscious sedation. For this treatment, one of our dentists will prescribe a small sedative pill for you to take ahead of your appointment. Once the sedative ingredients enter your system, you will begin to feel your whole body relax.

A word of caution: once you take this sedative pill you will not be able to drive. So be sure to arrange for a friend or family member to be available to drive you to our office and back home again. And depending on how you’re feeling after your time in our office, this person may need to keep an eye on you for the rest of the day.

By the time you arrive for your appointment, you’ll likely be feeling completely calm. Many patients can’t remember anything that happened during their treatment and think they’ve slept through their visit. Actually, you will still be awake so we can speak to you and ask questions. Oral conscious sedation is also a great way to get through several procedures in one day.
